From the country that led the world in Covid vaccinations, it is horrifying to see that the UK's surge in cases has forced The US State Department to elevate Britain to a Level 4 "Do Not Travel" status.
Because of my long-standing commitment to the US travel agency community, the 'bad news' has inspired me to put together a four-month programme of upbeat and positive product updates which will be rolled out in different forms as weekly Britain Insider columns in the Insider Travel Report and fortnightly articles for Travel Research Online. I've been a member of the Travel Institute for several years and during the autumn, I'll be writing some White Papers for them. And just for the record, I'm also a UK-based member of ASTA, a relationship that dates back to before 9/11 in 2001.
Hopefully during this period of uncertainty, we'll begin to see signs of airline services being restored which will give me many more reasons to keep things going beyond Christmas and the New Year!
Covid-19 has stalled UK-bound travel, but it hasn't destroyed our historic sites, cathedrals, great castles and stately homes or prevented Mother Nature from producing our great gardens!
