As a Christmas present, my daughter gave me ten historical novels (average length 400 pages) which should keep me quiet until March! Most of them focus on Elizabethan and Tudor history (Rory Clements, C J Sansom, Andrew Taylor, Ken Follett and S W Perry) with others set in the Roman, Greek and Viking periods. I shared this with Suzanne Hall, a good friend and Senior Director, Supplier Relations-Land & Hotels for the Ensemble Travel Group and she came back saying that she too was an avid reader of historical fiction which has given me the starting point for this week's Britain Insider column, centred on the cathedral city of Salisbury and in the land of living legends, Devon and Cornwall.
The Read More will reveal all!
To help you to generate some valuable new UK-bound business, why don't you ask three or four of your anglophile customers to put together a list of their favourite British films/TV series and novels (historical or otherwise) and let's use it as the foundation for a unique and personalised tour for the spring, summer or autumn. You may not be fully au fait with their choices but that's where my knowledge comes into play! |
