Last week’s edition generated serious interest in combining the Cotswolds with Cornwall (Doc Martin, Poldark, Arthurian Legends etc).  If the idea fires your imagination, use this link and take a closer look.

An earlier mention of the February-July 2019 Christian Dior Exhibition at the V&A also triggered a good response and it bears repeating as the starting point for a London Girls Getaway or for a student group interested in fashion.  There’s also been an encouraging response to my providing golf tours which include both Scotland AND Ireland.

For clients interested in the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July) or the Goodwood Revival (September) my suggested itinerary will include a visit to Brooklands, the home of British Motorsport and Aviation.

My pal Nick White in Clovelly has come up with an interesting piece on North Devon’s role in training American GI’s before D Day and I’ve also added details of a very good B and B just outside Harrogate, Yorkshire.

Finally, my Britain Insider column will inspire you develop a UK Christmas Markets tour in November/December 2019.

The Christian Dior Exhibition at the V&A London

2019 and spanning 1947 to the present day, the V&A Museum will celebrate one of the most ingenious and iconic designers in fashion history.  Reimaging the highly popular exhibition from Paris, more light will be shed on Christian Dior’s admiration of the grandeur of Britain’s great houses and gardens as well as British-designed ocean liners including the Queen Mary.

D-Day Training for GI's

74 years ago, North Devon in south west England became a small US backwater of America.  Because their award-winning beaches were almost identical to Omaha Beach, two divisions of GI’s used them to prepare for D Day.  Check this link for stories of these brave souls, learn about love messages left on trees at divisional HQ and discover General Eisenhower’s home when visiting.
