A good friend of mine is involved with the restoration of Strawberry Field, the area behind the famous red gates that inspired John Lennon as a child.  Opening later this year, I’m adding it to my Liverpool shore excursions which I customise for independent travellers and groups who are fans of the Fab Four.  I’ve also added last week’s Britain Insider column which illustrates how the Manchester Gateways is THE starting point for inspired 3 country tours.

Through talking up the Brontë’s, Beatrix Potter, Harry Potter, Dracula and James Herriot, an Inside Track reader has persuaded a local bookstore to promote a Manchester-arriving Bookshelf Tour which come in as my third story.

If you look at the Wedgwood website (story 4) you’ll see why it makes the perfect starting point for a short programme to the World Capital of Ceramics.  I’ve also highlighted another itinerary for a leisurely meander down the Wales England border, through the Cotswolds before ending up in London.

I’ve also added another short testimonial for a Scotland tour we recently completed for Ensemble-member, Susan Hammond.

Beatles Shore Excursion Liverpool

Did you know that in one action-packed day, your clients can visit the Beatles Story, go inside John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney’s childhood homes, see the Strawberry Field heritage attraction, lunch at the Hard Day’s Night Hotel, discover The Casbah Coffee Club where the Beatles truly began and the Magical Beatles Museum and finish with the Story of British Music?  Ask me for details.

Manchester For Three Country Tours

Start thinking of the gateway for tours that kick off in England, spend a couple of days in Wales and then finish in Dublin. Alternatively, start in North Wales and then head through the Lake District to Scotland, flying home from Edinburgh/Glasgow.  Take a look at last week’s Britain Insider column for examples of how thinking out of the box can become profitable.

Beatrix Potter, Harry Potter and Count Dracula

One of my regular Inside Track readers has taken my suggestion for a north of England literary tour and having approached a local bookstore, we’re now arranging her chosen bookshelf into an imaginative, customised tour with a 12-month lead time.  Why not follow her example and let me help you to customise a tour for a small group of booklovers?  Read more

Fly to China, The Breakable Kind

I’m hugely impressed by the quality of the experience on offer at the World of Wedgwood (take a look).  Use the non-stop Manchester flights for a long weekend that starts with Wedgwood, includes a special visit to Emma Bridgewater, the ceramic’s collections at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and an utterly absorbing day among the priceless treasures in nearby Chatsworth House.  Read more

Great Castles and Gardens of Wales and England

Here’s another great programme that works really well through the Manchester gateway.  Based on some of Best Loved Hotels finest properties it takes you to some of North Wales 12th century castles, the gardens at Bodnant and Powis Castle, Stokesay Castle, the privately owned Laskett Gardens and follows the Black and White Villages trail through the Herefordshire countryside and into the Cotswolds.  Read more

How Did We Do?

“Last year, we selected Paull’s team for our first English literary tour. The 13 ladies who took part agreed that it was a seamless, glitchless and enjoyable experience. This year, he put together a Whisky and Walking tour to Scotland for 15 people and produced the same result.  We highly recommend him for small group travel and FITs.” Susan Hammond, Endless Travel, Evergreen, Colorado”
