I hope you're in good voice this morning and up for a bit of singing. With Christmas Day just around the corner, my next two Britain Insider columns are going to feature a selection of short, ear-catching YouTube videos of Advent carols performed by some of our outstanding cathedral choirs.

I've also added details of the guided tours they currently offer and will be showcasing more in February/March.

When planning a UK tour, I'd like to make two recommendations.  Plan a cathedral visit for mid-afternoon so that an imaginatively themed tour can be followed by English Afternoon Tea in the Cathedral Refectory before staying on for the short service of Choral Evensong.

Where possible, try to include Sunday Morning Worship in a cathedral, abbey or parish church. I know this isn't always possible on a set departure tour but for a customised itinerary, it's a great deal easier.
