As a regular reader with the UK on your radar, check out some of the back issues of my Britain Insider columns (Insider Travel Report) and my Windows on Britain (Travel Research Online).  Written with you in mind, they’re packed with ideas that are almost entirely geared to memorable travel experiences BEYOND London.  Perfect for anglophile clients flying or cruising in or out of the country, there’s also a large selection that suit the many non-stop flights heading into the northern gateway of Manchester.

This week’s Inside Track further develops the huge potential for a UK Methodist Heritage tour based around the 350th anniversary of Susanna Wesley’s birth and the scope for you to make extra profits from promoting UK pre and post cruise extensions.

From next spring, new flights between LHR and Cornwall make Doc Martin and Poldark more reachable while user-friendly Manchester opens up the possibilities for a closer look at the worlds of Beatrix Potter, James Herriot and the Brontës.

Read on, be inspired and let’s start an exchange of emails.

Sarah Wesley's 350th and England's Methodist Heritage

Last week’s heads up on next year’s 350th anniversary of Susanna Wesley’ birth produced an encouraging level of interest.  Take a look at my Britain Insider column and pause for a moment to think of Methodist contacts who might be interested in this more unusual perspective on the 18th century life and times of the great evangelists, John and Charles Wesley.

Higher Profits with Customised UK Cruise Extensions

To illustrate a more colourful approach to imaginatively themed ideas for pre and post cruise extensions, check out my article in Travel Agent Professional.  In addition to offering your customers historic castles, magnificent cathedrals, stunning gardens, historic pubs and locations used in the filming of Downton Abbey, Inspector Morse and Father Brown, these conversation-starting 2-3 night add-ons will generate valuable extra profits.

Faster Access to Poldark, Doc Martin and Arthurian Legends

From 31st March, Cornwall Airport Newquay will gain access to London Heathrow, replacing flights from Gatwick. Operating out of Terminal 2, Flybe will run up to four flights a day from the London hub using 78-seat Q400 turboprop aircraft. The Heathrow route will replace the airline’s existing link to Gatwick and bring the worlds of Poldark and Doc Martin that much closer.

Beatrix Potter, James Herriot and the Brontes

With the increased number of Manchester-bound direct flights, the sources of inspiration for the popular stories and novels by Beatrix Potter, Bram Stoker (Dracula) and the Brontës are much more accessible.  James Herriot’s Yorkshire Dales play an important role in this bookshelf tour and the recently opened Fleece Hotel in the historic market town of Richmond makes a great base for a 2-night stay.

A Rothschild Treasury

From 25th May, Waddesdon Manor is opening a new display celebrating the Rothschilds as collectors of extraordinary objects made from rare and precious materials. Densely displayed and beautifully lit, it offers an intense opportunity to enjoy and understand objects made from silver, silver-gilt, rock crystal, amber, ivory and enamel including some spectacular jewellery and intricate clocks which have profound significance to the family.

How Did We Do?

“We selected Paull’s team for our first literary tour in the English countryside.  The 13 ladies who took part agreed that it was a seamless, glitch less and enjoyable experience.  We highly recommend him for small group travel and FITs.”  Susan Hammond and Linda Lovin, Endless Travel, Evergreen, Colorado.
